Basketball Recap: Thompson Starts off Right with Win over Wahpeton

Thompson had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 67-59 win over the Wahpeton Huskies. That's more bragging rights for the Tommies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Thompson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Drew Odenbach led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Those 13 points gave Odenbach a new career-high. Gavin Krogstad was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thompson will venture away from home to take on Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wahpeton, they will head out to challenge Four Winds/Minnewaukan at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
