Volleyball Recap: West Florence Knights vs. St. James Sharks
West Florence and St. James squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but West Florence had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Sharks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sharks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in September.
West Florence was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made St. James work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 26-24, 25-8.
West Florence's offense was headlined by Drew Wilson and Ethan Pham, who picked up ten kills apiece. They got some help from Wells McBride and his 25 assists. Finally, Wilson was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.
West Florence has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season. As for St. James, they pushed their record up to 21-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
West Florence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. James, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Lucy Beckham on the 23rd.
