Basketball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Meadowdale's Winning Streak

After flying high against Belmont last Saturday, Meadowdale came back down to earth. The Meadowdale Lions took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ponitz Career Tech Golden Panthers on Monday. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Meadowdale still got an impressive performance from Janiyah Middlebrook, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 18 boards. That was a full 50% of Meadowdale's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jade Jenkins, who had four points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Meadowdale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meadowdale's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Ponitz Career Tech, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Meadowdale will be playing in front of their home fans against DePaul Cristo Rey at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ponitz Career Tech, they will face off against Thurgood Marshall at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
