Softball Game Preview: Gardiner Tigers vs. Nokomis Warriors

The Gardiner Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Nokomis Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Gardiner will be strutting in after a victory while Nokomis will be coming in after a defeat.

It was a proper cat-fight when Gardiner duked it out with Medomak Valley on Wednesday. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Panthers.

SOPHIA MARRONE spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on ZOEY EPPERSON, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. MOLLY TAKATSU also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Nokomis came up short against Cony on Wednesday, falling 17-8.

Gardiner's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Nokomis, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
