Basketball Recap: Riverview Sarasota's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Riverview Sarasota came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the IMG Academy State Ascenders 61-45. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Ascenders are ranked 318th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverview Sarasota was led to victory by Taylor Davidson and Kyrsten Montas. Davidson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Montas went 6 for 8 en route to 14 points. Those 14 points gave Montas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Noto, who posted ten points and three steals.

Riverview Sarasota smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 18 offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Riverview Sarasota has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for IMG Academy State, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Riverview Sarasota will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sumner at 7:30 p.m. As for IMG Academy State, they will square off against Seminole at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. IMG Academy State is facing Seminole at the right time seeing as Seminole is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
