Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Brawley's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Brawley saw some tournament action on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Shadow Hills Knights.

Giovanni Guerra looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Sergio Garcia was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Brawley is 6-1 when Garcia posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise. Jon Angel Aguirre was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Brawley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shadow Hills only posted a batting average of .222.

Brawley has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Shadow Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Brawley will face off against Imperial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Shadow Hills, they will challenge Palm Desert at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Aztecs will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
