Preview: Stanton County Trojans vs. Ulysses Tigers

The Stanton County Trojans are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Ulysses Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Stanton County is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ulysses in Kansas (Stanton County is ranked 29th, while Ulysses is ranked 166th).

Stanton County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 24 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Cheyenne Wells on Saturday as Stanton County made off with a 50-26 win.

Stanton County can attribute much of their success to David Crane, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds, and Juan Aleman, who scored 14 points. The matchup was Crane's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Arihm Gonzalez, who scored 6 points.

Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Ulysses had to settle for a 48-46 loss against Norton on Saturday. Ulysses has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Their wins bumped Stanton County to 4-0 and Cheyenne Wells to 1-2.

Stanton County was able to grind out a solid victory over Ulysses when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 41-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stanton County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
