Softball Game Preview: Millis Mohawks vs. Westwood Wolverines

Millis and Westwood are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Mohawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Millis will be strutting in after a victory while Westwood will be coming in after a defeat.

Millis came out on top against Norwood on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Mohawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mustangs 7-5. The Mohawks haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Mia Vasta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Zoe Sparks was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alicia Ellis, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Millis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Westwood entered their match against Norton on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wolverines fell 8-3 to the Lancers.

Millis' win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Westwood, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
