The South Lake Eagles will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Tavares Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

South Lake is leaving town to face Tavares after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. South Lake fell just short of Nature Coast Tech by a score of 14-12 on Friday. The defeat leaves the Eagles without a win on the season.

Tavares' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Davis led the charge by rushing for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Tamauri Collins was another key back, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Tavares was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 422 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

South Lake strolled past Tavares when the teams last played back in October of 2016 by a score of 31-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Lake since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
