Santi Castillo of Mitchell is the Nebraska High School Football Player of the Week

After receiving nearly 3,000 votes, Santi Castillo of Mitchell has earned MaxPreps Nebraska High School Football Player of the Week honors.

In a 55-24 win over Wheatland (Wyo.), the senior ran six times for 133 yards and four touchdowns, recorded eight tackles including a tackle for a loss, deflected a pass, made seven of eight PATs and scored 31 points.

Here are the rest of this week's candidates:

* Caleb Benning, Omaha Westside: Returned a kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown, returned four punts for 74 yards, caught a pass for a 27-yard touchdown, made three tackles and intercepted a pass in a 57-7 win over Creighton Prep.

* Conor Booth, Bishop Neumann (Wahoo): Ran 12 times for 130 yards and a touchdown and caught a nine-yard pass for a score in a 55-0 win over Milford.

* Isak Doty, Sidney: Completed 10 of 17 passes for 96 yards and a score, ran the ball 30 times for 182 yards and four touchdowns, made a tackle and intercepted a pass while also handling the kicking and punting duties in a 32-23 win over Holdrege.

* Stanley Haeder, Bellevue West (Bellevue): Was in on six tackles, made three tackles for loss, three sacks and caused a fumble in a 25-7 loss to Omaha North.

* Lathan Janousek, Seward: Intercepted three passes and caused three fumbles in a 14-7 win over Norris.

* Orrin Kuehn, Minden: Returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown, made six tackles including one for a loss, carried the ball 16 times for 67 yards and caught three passes for 32 yards in a 7-6 loss to Hastings Adams Central.

* Trent McCain, Ord: Ran the ball 16 times for 170 yards and four touchdowns, made two tackles, a sack and caused a fumble in a 49-29 win over Central City.

* Coryion Perry, Bryan (Omaha): Completed 17 of 24 passes for 353 yards and three touchdowns and caught a pass for a 62-yard score in a 47-7 win over Omaha South.
