Rapides made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hornbeck, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rapides Mustangs put the hurt on the Hornbeck Hornets with a sharp 16-3 victory on Saturday. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The win got Rapides back to even at 4-4. As for Hornbeck, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Rapides is taking a road trip to take on Avoyelles Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hornbeck, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Pickering at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Hornbeck's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Pickering has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
