Ashwaubenon is a perfect 9-0 against Notre Dame Academy since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Jaguars will challenge the Tritons at 4:30 p.m. Ashwaubenon's pitching crew has only allowed 0.8 runs per game this season, so Notre Dame Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Ashwaubenon's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Sheboygan North with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Gianna Guarascio and Ava Mehlberg did most of the damage at the plate: Guarascio went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Mehlberg went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Guarascio has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Zeal, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Ashwaubenon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame Academy came up short against Seymour on Friday, falling 10-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Tritons in their meetings with the Thunder: they've now lost four in a row.
Notre Dame Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Nowak, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Ashwaubenon's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame Academy, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ashwaubenon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. However, it's not like Notre Dame Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ashwaubenon took their win against Notre Dame Academy in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
