Recap: Southridge Spartans vs. Miami Beach Hi-Tides
In what's become a running theme this season, the Southridge Spartans gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Miami Beach 92-52 at home. Given Southridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Miami Beach is ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
O'cien Valdes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jan Lopez, who scored 17 points along with two blocks.
Southridge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season. As for Miami Beach, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.
Southridge will face off against Mater Academy Charter at TBD on Thursday. One thing working in Mater Academy Charter's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. Miami Beach will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Southwest at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th.
