Recap: Sequoyah Chiefs vs. Gibbs Eagles
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Sequoyah Chiefs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 66-61 win over Gibbs. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Gibbs lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zack Turner. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. The contest was Turner's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Hughes, who scored ten points.
Sequoyah's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Gibbs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Sequoyah will head out on the road to face off against Eagleton College & Career Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Gibbs won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Carter on December 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Carter is ranked 223rd, while Gibbs is ranked 226th).
