Basketball Recap: Bandera Skates Past Canyon Lake with Ease

Bandera came into Friday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Canyon Lake, posting a 67-35 win. The BULLDOGS have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 22 points or more this season.

Gabby Barrera continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 13 of 25 en route to 37 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Her evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kourtney Frerich was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Bandera's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 17-12. As for Canyon Lake, they dropped their record down to 13-16 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Bandera and Canyon Lake could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Bandera (ranked 633rd) will meet Fredericksburg (ranked 32nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Canyon Lake will square off against Wimberley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 489 places (733 vs. 244).
