Basketball Recap: South View Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

South View extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Danauje Brooks. The South View Tigers walked away with a 79-68 victory over the Cape Fear Colts on Friday thanks in part to Brooks, who went 15 of 34 en route to 44 points along with six boards and four steals. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of South View's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Beard, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

Cape Fear's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shanel Sutton, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Sutton is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game. Emily Harris also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

South View's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Cape Fear, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

South View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-45 victory against Trinity Christian on the 18th. As for Cape Fear, they will square off against Lumberton at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th.
