Basketball Recap: Izabella Moret Key Part of a Team Effort in Cardinals Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sioux City East, South Sioux City was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They managed a 39-33 victory over the Norfolk Panthers. This was payback for the Cardinals, who suffered a 51-43 loss the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Sioux City to victory, but perhaps none more so than IzaBella Moret, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds gave Moret a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryleigh Robinette, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Norfolk's loss came despite strong showings from Harper Fossum and Bo Caskey. Fossum earned four points and seven rebounds, while Caskey went 7 of 17 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds.

South Sioux City's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Norfolk, their record now sits at 3-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Sioux City will face off against Skutt Catholic on Saturday. As for Norfolk, they will challenge Lincoln Northeast at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Norfolk is facing Lincoln Northeast at the right time seeing as Lincoln Northeast is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
