Steele Canyon and Rancho Buena Vista are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Cougars will take on the Longhorns in a tournament on Tuesday. Rancho Buena Vista took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Steele Canyon, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Steele Canyon had just enough and edged out Valhalla 3-2. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.

Payton Sos made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 5.1 innings pitched. Sos was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Belle Will was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI. Ily Barclay also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Steele Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valhalla only posted a batting average of .150.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Rancho Buena Vista's good fortune finally ran out last Friday. They fell 7-3 to Christian.

Rancho Buena Vista saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maizie Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Steele Canyon pushed their record up to 7-5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Rancho Buena Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Steele Canyon beat Rancho Buena Vista 3-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Longhorns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
