Preview: Vista PEAK Prep Bison vs. Rangeview Raiders
Vista PEAK Prep has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Rangeview Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vista PEAK Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Rangeview likes a good challenge.
Vista PEAK Prep put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 62-32 win over Thomas Jefferson at home. With Vista PEAK Prep ahead 36-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vista PEAK Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eianna Jackson, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Knakai Starks, who scored six points along with nine blocks and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Denver South scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Rangeview still came out on top. Rangeview managed a 60-56 win over Denver South. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, as Rangeview did.
Rangeview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Paige Boectther led the charge by scoring 21 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Boectther has scored all season. D'ajha Horton was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
Vista PEAK Prep's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. As for Rangeview, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Vista PEAK Prep have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Rangeview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Vista PEAK Prep strolled past Rangeview in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 44-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vista PEAK Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
