Baseball Recap: Warren County Wins Going Away Against Handley

Warren County never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Handley Judges. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Franny Shaffer made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Warren County's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-1 (and 5-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Seb France was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Warren County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Andlinger, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Warren County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Warren County pushed their record up to 9-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Handley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Warren County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-1 loss against Fauquier on the 23rd. Handley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
