Baseball Game Preview: Seton Catholic Cougars vs. Columbia Bruins

Seton Catholic is a perfect 10-0 against Columbia since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will welcome the Bruins at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Seton Catholic has eight straight wins, Columbia has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Seton Catholic got the win against Kalama by a conclusive 20-4. Considering the Cougars have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Kolten Gesser, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Case Iverson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Columbia lost 12-1 to King's Way Christian on Thursday.

Columbia saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kai Brasuell, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Seton Catholic's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Seton Catholic's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Columbia, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Seton Catholic continue to outrun the ball?
