Volleyball Recap: Lake Region Thunder vs. Haines City Hornets

Lake Region was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Haines City Hornets, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Aubrey Weymouth paced Lake Region's offense, picking up four kills. Weymouth got some help from Yatnielis Medina Gonzalez and her 11 assists. Medina Gonzalez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Haines City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Arielle Moore led the charge by getting 18 digs and two aces. Those 18 digs gave Moore a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mariah Williams, who had ten digs and seven assists.

Lake Region's defeat dropped their record down to 2-24. As for Haines City, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 8-8.

Looking ahead, Lake Region will head out to square off against Auburndale at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Haines City, they will venture away from home to face off against Ridge Community at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
