Basketball Recap: Chaney Gets the Win

On Thursday, it was close, but the Chaney Cowboys sidestepped the Perry Panthers for a 52-50 win.

Luke Wolf and Drake Jacobsen certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Wolf posted 16 points along with six boards and three blocks, while Jacobsen went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points. Those three blocks gave Wolf a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Haley, who earned six points.

Chaney has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Perry, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaney and Solon will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Chaney is facing Solon at the right time seeing as Solon is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Perry, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Perry Panthers take on the Washington Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Washington knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Perry likes a good challenge.
