Softball Game Preview: Shiprock Chieftains vs. Bloomfield Bobcats

Shiprock hasn't had much luck against Bloomfield recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Chieftains will welcome the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Shiprock came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Kirtland Central, falling 14-1. The match marked the Chieftains' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Bloomfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 20-2 to Aztec.

Bloomfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Shiprock, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Shiprock suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Bloomfield in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Chieftains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
