Baseball Recap: Three Rivers Has No Trouble Against Buchanan

Three Rivers came out on top against Buchanan on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run first inning. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Bucks with a sharp 14-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bucks: they've now won four in a row.

Brady Penny made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Penny was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Three Rivers got a big performance out of Jace Gray, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Gray is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Dibble, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Three Rivers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in four consecutive games.

Three Rivers' victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Buchanan, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Three Rivers will face off against Edwardsburg at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Buchanan, they will challenge Brandywine at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
