The Farmington Phoenix will square off against the Layton Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Farmington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Farmington and Davis had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Phoenix fell 7-4 to the Darts on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Phoenix in their meetings with the Darts: they've now lost three in a row.

Farmington saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Rogers, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Layton fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Fremont on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Silverwolves. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Serenity Overton was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Macie Clark, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Layton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Farmington, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Layton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Farmington has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Layton, though, as they've been averaging 10.7 hits. Given Farmington's sizable advantage in that area, the Lancers will need to find a way to close that gap.

Farmington took their victory against Layton in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Phoenix repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
