Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Grantsville's 15th in Last 16 Outings

While Grantsville's win against Timpanogos wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cowboys never let the Timberwolves get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Saturday. The Cowboys have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Timberwolves, too.

Grantsville's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Payten Bytheway, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. That's the most hits Bytheway has posted since back in May of 2024.

Grantsville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.

Grantsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Timpanogos, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-8 record this season.

Grantsville will take on Bear River at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Timpanogos, they have already played their next contest, a 16-1 win against Provo on the 28th.
