Preview: East Rockaway Rocks vs. Carle Place Frogs
East Rockaway is 2-8 against the Frogs since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The East Rockaway Rocks will play host again and welcome the Carle Place Frogs, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
East Rockaway's game back in January was all tied up 16-16 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 40-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oyster Bay.
Meanwhile, Carle Place came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 37-24 win over Oyster Bay.
Carle Place had a senior duo take command as Paige Selhorn scored 17 points along with four steals and Caitlin Leary scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Leary has scored at least a third of Carle Place's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Gomes, who scored four points along with 18 rebounds and two blocks.
East Rockaway's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Carle Place, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
East Rockaway barely slipped by the Frogs in their previous matchup back in January, winning 54-53. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Leary, who scored 31 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
