Softball Recap: Cherokee Comes Up Short

After flying high against Decatur Heritage Christian Academy last Thursday, Cherokee came back down to earth. The Indians fell just short of the Covenant Christian Eagles by a score of 14-13 on Friday. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Cherokee got a big performance out of Layla Gorman, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Lockett, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Cherokee's defeat dropped their record down to 17-19. As for Covenant Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-21 record this season.

As of now, neither Cherokee nor Covenant Christian have any future games scheduled.
