Preview: Dyett Eagles vs. Phillips Wildcats

Dyett has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Phillips Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dyett has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

In what's become a running theme this season, Dyett gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 77-51 margin over Bogan. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Dyett has posted since November 25, 2023.

Devon Shelton was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Ahmari Taylor was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, even though Francis W. Parker scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, Phillips still came out on top. Phillips blew past Francis W. Parker 85-61. Given Phillips' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Francis W. Parker is ranked 624th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Lawrence Horton and Miles Johnson. Horton had a solid game and scored three points along with six rebounds and two steals. Meanwhile, Johnson did his best for the losing side, scoring 13 points along with two steals.

Dyett's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Phillips, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
