Basketball Recap: Gretna East Falls Short Against Ranked Norris

On Friday, Gretna East faced Norris in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Gretna East Griffins fell just short of the Norris Titans by a score of 54-51. The contest marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Gretna East's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Hawley, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 17 points along with six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Hovie, who posted 13 points and seven assists.

Leading Norris to victory were Chris Garner Jr. and Barret Boesiger. Garner Jr. went 8 of 10 on his way to 19 points, while Boesiger went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Macoy Folkerts, who had nine points.
