Baseball Recap: Northfield Takes a Loss

Northfield might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Eaglecrest who claimed the real prize. The Nighthawks fell just short of the Raptors by a score of 6-5. The Nighthawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raptors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Northfield got a good showing from Jackson Taylor, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Northfield got a big performance out of Cooper Haslar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ryder Wicks, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Northfield's loss dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Eaglecrest, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-12.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Northfield will take on Riverdale Ridge at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Ravens will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Nighthawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eaglecrest, they will square off against Castle View at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Raptors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sabercats have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
