Sherman Oaks CES had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 73-64 victory over the Northridge Academy Pumas on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Leading Sherman Oaks CES to victory were Andre O'Daniel and Evan O'Daniel. Andre dropped a double-double with 36 points and 15 rebounds, while Evan went 5-for-12 on his way to 14 points and seven assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Andre has scored at least a third of Sherman Oaks CES' points. Another player making a difference was Hector Alvarado, who posted five points and six boards.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Sherman Oaks CES was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They racked up eight more assists than Northridge Academy's also-impressive total of ten.
Despite the defeat, Northridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Landon Lake shot 60% from the field to rack up 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lake has scored all season. Christian Perea was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 11 points.
Sherman Oaks CES' win bumped their record up to 23-6. As for Northridge Academy, they moved to 11-18 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Sherman Oaks CES has already played their next matchup, a 91-63 defeat against Math & Science College Preparatory on the 26th. Northridge Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
