Softball Game Preview: Cuba-Rushford Rebels vs. Friendship Golden Eagles

The Cuba-Rushford Rebels are taking a road trip to face off against the Friendship Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Friendship took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Cuba-Rushford, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Cuba-Rushford needed a bit of extra time to put away Bolivar-Richburg. They won by a run and slipped past the Wolverines 4-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rebels as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lizzie Kocsis spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Cuba-Rushford saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Bunk, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Kate Radomski also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Friendship was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 16-15 heartbreaker at the hands of Andover. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (11), the Golden Eagles still had to take the loss.

Friendship's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Cuba-Rushford, their record is now 2-3.

Cuba-Rushford came up short against Friendship in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
