Basketball Game Preview: Loganville Christian Academy Lions vs. Athens Christian Eagles

Loganville Christian Academy is 0-4 against Athens Christian since January of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Loganville Christian Academy Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Athens Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Loganville Christian Academy played in conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they we're looking for. Everything went their way against Bethlehem Christian Academy as Loganville Christian Academy made off with a 75-52 victory. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Knights are ranked 366th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Loganville Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Sanai Cyrus, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards, and Addi Petitt, who went 8 of 14 en route to 26 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Cyrus is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 15 games she's played. Dachelle Lucas was another key player, putting up five points along with nine rebounds and five assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Loganville Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Athens Christian). They blew past Bethlehem Christian Academy 78-24 last Thursday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-9.

Athens Christian's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.3 points. As for Loganville Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

Loganville Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 58-36 loss they got from Athens Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2024.
