Baseball Recap: Brawley Wildcats vs. Southwest EC Eagles
Brawley was the 3-2 winner over Southwest EC when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Brawley Wildcats fell just short of the Southwest EC Eagles by a score of 6-5 on Friday.
Sergio Garcia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Preece, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and an RBI.
Even though they lost, Brawley didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 11 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest EC only tossed six.
On Southwest EC's side, Jose Salcido made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (he also only allowed one walk). Salcido has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive pitching appearances. Salcido was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-2.
