Softball Recap: Weddington's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Weddington proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by six) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the High Point Christian Academy Cougars 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since March 8th.

The victory (which was Weddington's sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for High Point Christian Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 11-4 record.

Looking ahead, Weddington will be taking part in a tournament against South Caldwell at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 1.7, the Spartans 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for High Point Christian Academy, they will challenge Gaston Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.08 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
