Basketball Recap: Katella Knights vs. Garden Grove Argonauts
The Katella Knights were the 59-55 winner over the Garden Grove Argonauts when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Katella took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Argonauts. Katella has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jace Aikins and Dillon Curtis certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Aikins scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Curtis scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Curtis is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played.
Garden Grove found their leader in underclassman Neiman Quach, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Juarez, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Katella has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Garden Grove, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Katella will take on the Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Godinez Fundamental's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 matchups. As for Garden Grove, they will be playing at home against the Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ocean View is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
