Football Game Preview: Hughes BIG RED vs. Taft Senators

Hughes hasn't had much luck against Taft recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The BIG RED will venture away from home to challenge the Senators at 6:30 p.m.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Hughes and Western Hills, and Western Hills kept the tradition alive. The BIG RED took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs on Friday.

Meanwhile, Taft strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Withrow get on the board and left with a 39-0 win. Given the Senators' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Tigers are ranked 136th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hughes' loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Taft, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Hughes was taken down by Taft 48-20 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the BIG RED were down 30-6.
