Basketball Recap: Conner Comes Up Short

Conner suffered their biggest defeat since February 4th on Tuesday. They were dealt a 54-24 loss at the hands of the Ryle Raiders. The Cougars have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Leading Ryle to victory were Jayden (Jay) Mcclain and Jaelyn Jones. (Jay) Mcclain dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards, while Jones almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. (Jay) Mcclain has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 19 times she's played. Ava Warner was another key player, putting up six points.

Conner's defeat dropped their record down to 10-18. As for Ryle, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-21.

Conner does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ryle, they will square off against Cooper at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cooper knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Ryle likes a good challenge.
