Soccer Game Preview: Parkersburg vs. Huntington

The Parkersburg Big Reds will head out to square off against the Huntington Highlanders at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Parkersburg is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Wheeling Park, who was ranked fourth at the time (Parkersburg was ranked 22nd). The Big Reds came up short against the Patriots last Thursday, falling 5-0. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Parkersburg couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Huntington managed to keep up with Woodrow Wilson until halftime last Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Highlanders lost 4-0 to the Flying Eagles. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Huntington haven't been shut out since back in September.

Parkersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8-1. As for Huntington, their loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5-1.

Parkersburg skirted past Huntington 4-3 in their previous matchup back in August. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Big Reds since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
