Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Sets Scoring Season-High Against Florence

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Mary). They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Florence Huskies 82-28. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their 23-point performance the game before.

St. Mary's found their leader in freshman Kylie Nail, who posted 36 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nail has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Leilani Gordon, who had 20 points.

Florence's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Hamilton, who put up four points.

St. Mary's pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points over those games. As for Florence, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

St. Mary's wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-41 win against The Vanguard School on the 7th. As for Florence, they have also already played their next matchup, a 54-10 victory against Cripple Creek-Victor on the 8th.
