Baseball Game Preview: Peru Nighthawks vs. Beekmantown Eagles

For the second straight game, Peru will face off against Beekmantown. The Nighthawks will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Peru will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Peru is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Beekmantown. Considering the Nighthawks have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Donnie Mitchell made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Mitchell wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Frechette, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another was Deacon Whitmarsh, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Peru's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Beekmantown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.
