Baseball Recap: Girard Comes Up Short

Varsity Opponent hit Girard with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellowjackets lost 11-1 to Varsity Opponent. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Yellowjackets have suffered since April 25th.

Joe Ferretti made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Rhys DiMario also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Girard and nudges their season record down to 11-7.

Girard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Varsity Opponent, they will be taking part in a tournament against Kendrick at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Varsity Opponent's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
