Preview: West Lincoln Rebels vs. North Lincoln Knights
West Lincoln has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the North Lincoln Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (West Lincoln is ranked 249th, while North Lincoln is ranked 224th).
Even though West Lincoln has not done well against Cherryville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West Lincoln strolled past Cherryville with points to spare, taking the game 54-36.
West Lincoln can attribute much of their success to Gideon Allen, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds, and Mikalister Andersen, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Allen has scored at least 25% of West Lincoln's points. Another player making a difference was Evan Hartsoe, who scored 10 points.
Meanwhile, North Lincoln's 18-9 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 69-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Norman on Friday. North Lincoln has not had much luck with Lake Norman recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, North Lincoln got a solid performance out of Carson Engstrand, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Karr, who scored 10 points along with 7 assists.
Foard's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while West Lincoln's loss dropped theirs to 1-2.
Things could have been worse for West Lincoln, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-39 loss to North Lincoln when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can West Lincoln avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
