Football Recap: Dunnellon Takes Down Vanguard in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Dunnellon walked away with it. They blew past the Vanguard Knights 27-0 on Thursday. The game marked the Tigers' most dominant victory of the season.

Among those leading the charge was Aubrey Williams, who picked up 36 receiving yards and two scores. She was even better on defense, making three total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception which she returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Dunnellon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tony'Ah Boggs and Williams. Williams got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win made it two in a row for Dunnellon and bumps their season record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.0 points over those games. As for Vanguard, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Dunnellon will venture away from home to face off against Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Leopards' defense has only allowed 10.4 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. Vanguard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
