Recap: Milton Eagles vs. Grayson Rams

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Milton Eagles walked away with it. They walked away with a 45-35 win over the Rams on Friday. Winning may never get old, but Milton sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Luke Nickel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 434 yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Nickel is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Tristen Payne also helped out as he racked up 148 receiving yards.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Milton, adding 13 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Alex Nover: he added nine points with three field goals, and another four kicking extra points.

Grayson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeff Davis, who threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. John Cineas also helped out as he racked up 113 receiving yards.

Milton pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.8 points per game. As for Grayson, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3.

Milton will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Walton at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. One thing working in Walton's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. Grayson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
