Softball Recap: West Albany Bulldogs vs. Dallas Dragons
West Albany dropped their record down to 7-13 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Dallas Dragons, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in April.
West Albany saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amelia Kidd 2026, who went 2-for-4 with one run. Meritt Forney 2025 also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for Dallas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
On Dallas' side, Mahayla Benoit spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. Benoit has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Dallas got a massive performance out of Maeve Woolsey, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Harlow Nelson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Looking ahead, West Albany will square off against Lebanon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Dallas, they will challenge Crescent Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dragons are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
