Softball Recap: Glencliff Takes a Loss

Glencliff had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-6 to make it seven. They lost 11-2 to the Antioch Bears. The Colts were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Antioch, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.

For Antioch's part, Arianna Mitchell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mitchell was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Antioch let Maliyah Perry and Chiari Batey run wild. Perry went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs, while Batey went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. With that strong performance, Batey is now averaging an impressive 3.5 RBI per game. Another player making a difference was Avah Haynie, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Antioch beat Glencliff by a score of 11-2 later that day.
