Soccer Game Preview: Frostproof vs. Lakeland

Frostproof is 0-3 against Lakeland since November of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Frostproof Bulldogs will challenge the Lakeland Dreadnaughts at 8:00 p.m.

Frostproof fell victim to Santa Fe Catholic and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Hawks, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 394th, while the Hawks are ranked 92nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeland). Their defense stepped up to hand Ridge Community an 8-0 shutout on Monday. It was an even better day for Naomi Garner as she scored four goals for her team.

Lakeland's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five games. As for Frostproof, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

Frostproof suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Lakeland in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Frostproof avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
